Cows + Cowboys

I’ve always been inspired by the storied beauty of a working ranch and the relationship between horses and humans. The age-old craft of Western tack and attire has inspired American style for centuries — the hand-tooled leather, the chinks and chaps, wool, and woven hats, braided Mecaté, the equal balance of power and vulnerability of the horse and rider. These photos were shot of legendary cattleman Tom Curtin and his students learning the art of horsemanship and stockmanship at his Oklahoma ranch. Tom Curtin Horsemanship
